On November 21st, the 2nd WZBC Wenzhou Entrepreneurs Forum, themed “Going Global: Private Sector in China and Wenzhou Entrepreneurs,” kicked off in Wenzhou, Zhejiang. The event, hosted by the Chinese People’s Institute of Foreign Affairs, was co-organized by Wenzhou Business College and the Chongyang Institute for Financial Studies at the Renmin University of China.

In her address, Shi Ling, Vice President of the Chinese People’s Institute of Foreign Affairs, noted that this year marks the 10th anniversary of the Belt and Road Initiative and the 20th anniversary of the Eight Strategies of Zhejiang Province. This forum addresses the theme “Going Global: Private Sector in China and Wenzhou Entrepreneurs” and takes place at a fitting moment. Regarding the quality development of private enterprises in Wenzhou, Shi shared three suggestions. First, keep bolstering cooperation by fostering openness. Second, boost development through innovation. Third, advance sustainable development. Shi express her hope that Wenzhou could keep leveraging its strengths and embrace high-level opening-up.

“It is clear,” said Adrian Na?stase, Romania’s former Prime Minister, “that China boasts naturally an important domestic market,” and that “China has immense potential for sustained development in the future.”

“Business flows faster through the internet,” said Daryl Guppy, former national board member of the Australia China Business Council. “It flows into the digital age. The question that faces all business start-ups in Wenzhou, and indeed in China, is how to match the speed of capital and investment with the speed of business growth.”

According to ONG Tee Keat, Chairman of the Center for New Inclusive Asia and President of the Belt and Road Initiative Caucus for Asia Pacific (BRICAP), “… the unleashed potential of private enterprises from China, notably from the established Zhejiang entrepreneurs, is anticipated to reshape the scenario of supply chain configuration across the region besides bringing along the desired impetus to the local homegrown industries.”
