David has been working in and with companies in East and Southeast Asia for more than a decade. He has managed human resources for both his own companies and others in China, Taiwan, and Thailand. He has started and sold his own companies in three countries and worked for consulting firms, state-utilities, media groups, schools, and NGO's in Asia and America. In the last decade he has consulted for banks, airlines, factories, SMEs, MNCs, universities, and governments working to better their international operations.
David is a business coach and a sought after speaker and trainer regarding Thai and Chinese corporate cultures. As a keynote speaker he has given hundreds of presentations in Chinese, Thai, and English at events in China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Thailand, Europe, UAE and the United States. He has been published in academic and professional journals and been interviewed by CNN, CBS, BBC, 60 Minutes, EuroBiz and others. His most recent peer- reviewed article is, "When Face is your FICO Score: Informal Behaviors of a Micro-lender in a Bangkok Neighborhood," published in Vol. 43 of REA (May, 2024).
David speaks Thai and Mandarin and has two MAs focusing on Thai Urban and Corporate Cultures, an MBA from ESSEC in Singapore, and a PhD focusing on Chinese Business Anthropology. David is an ICF certified Business Coach and has taught university and private courses in China and the US including: MNC Management, International Marketing, Developing Business in China, Strategy for China, Doing Business in ASEAN, Survey of International Business, Business Anthropology, Enterprise Strategy, and Intercultural Communications. At UVU David developed the "Doing Business in..." program, focusing on international business strategies and cultures. He established partnerships with universities, businesses, and governments across 11 Asian countries, creating student learning and business opportunities. David now teaches these course materials to professionals and corporations online and in person around the world in addition to his current position as Associate Professor at Wenzhou Business College.
